Allie Jones has been named Sprekk Supply Group’s “Intern of the Week”! Allie is currently a junior at Stanford University studying Human Biology with an emphasis in Human Physiology and Healthcare Systems Management. She is graduating in Spring of 2022 and also plans to obtain her master’s degree.
Allie has recently been presented the BEAM Fellows Scholarship Award. This opportunity is granted to undergraduate students at Stanford University who are currently or plan to participate in part-time or full-time unpaid experiential learning opportunities.
In addition to enhancing her medical knowledge and sales skills – Allie is also a full-time student-athlete. She is currently on the track and field team at Stanford and was awarded sixth place at the 2017 United States Junior Nationals heptathlon event.
Our team got the opportunity to dive deeper into Allie’s goals and objectives following her completion of the program.
Q: In terms of long term career objectives, what are some goals you wish to achieve down the road?
A: I hope to eventually work in healthcare management. I want to lead and work with my team to increase efficiency and optimization within a hospital setting. Ultimately, to improve the healthcare system and increase patient care. In the short term, I want to either work in healthcare consulting or a medical device sales position that works within the OR to learn more about the healthcare field. I then want to continue my education and get my MBA with a concentration in healthcare management to expand my knowledge of management within the industry.
Q: How do you believe Sprekk Supply Group can aid your journey to achieving these goals?
A: I believe Sprekk can aid in my journey by teaching me valuable skills and giving me the opportunity to work in a real-world setting. Additionally, Sprekk has built a community of my peers that I can rely on and expand my network within the medical device industry. Outside of the more technical sales skills such as cold calling and pitching I have learned, I have developed many nontechnical interpersonal skills that are applicable in any industry
Q: What are the skills you wish to gain from this internship program and how do you plan to utilize these skills to achieve your long-term career objectives?
A: If I enter the medical device sales industry, I will use the technical skills I have obtained through this internship. Skills such as cold calling, sales pitch, sales presentation will be applicable in a full-time position as a medical device sales associate. However, if I go in another direction, I will use the extensive interpersonal and nontechnical skills I gained from this experience and subsequently implement them in the next step of my career.
Q: What type of industry, program or graduate studies do you see yourself pursuing upon finishing school?
A: Upon completion of my degree, I hope to enter the field of medical business. I have always been interested in healthcare and medicine, but I realized medical school was not for me. I am applying to the Clinical Management Informatics masters program at Stanford. This program educates at the intersection of medicine, business, and finance. Additionally, after working for a few years, I want to get my MBA in healthcare management. These two additional degrees will set me up perfectly for a future position in a hospital operations team and make a great impact on people’s lives.
We are excited to see Allie succeed throughout the rest of the Spring 2021 internship program and beyond!
