Intern Spotlight: Meet Mary Keller
As we wrap up another week of our Spring 2021 internship program, we are excited to name Mary Keller Intern of the Week.
Mary is a senior at the University of Missouri studying journalism with an emphasis in strategic communications. Through these first few weeks, she has dedicated herself to not only learning about the science and anatomy relevant to pain management – but how to translate this knowledge into effective marketing. Mary has successfully contributed to Sprekk’s social media strategy and has begun learning how to produce industry specific content.
As a company we believe all of our interns should have well-rounded knowledge in the medical device field. Because of this, no matter what emphasis our interns have, they all participate in the four week education course at the start of our program. The interns have been working hard to better understand the industry through studying not only our specific devices, but also what they do.
The SSG team was able to touch on a few of Mary’s goals and what she hopes to ultimately gain from the program.
Q: In terms of long term career objectives, what are some goals you wish to achieve down the road?
A: My goal is to work for a company I am passionate about. More specifically, I would love to work on the marketing team of a company that focuses on health and wellness of the body. I have been intrigued with the way my body works and efficient and safe ways to perform activities whether that be sports, weightlifting, or just working out in general.
Q: How do you believe Sprekk Supply Group can aid your journey to achieving these goals?
A: SSG is the perfect way to get my foot in the door to something I really love. Through this program I want to create connections with doctors and physicians that I can use throughout my career. During these first few weeks we have been emerging ourselves into the education side of neurophysiology and neuroanatomy. With this, I am understanding not only just the business side of the industry, but the way the devices work and how they work in action. I also have been hands on with the social media accounts and website developing ways to grow the community which will in turn grow not only my network, but Sprekk’s network as well.
Q: What are the skills you wish to gain from this internship program and how do you plan to utilize these skills to achieve your long term career objectives?
A: With this program I am looking to further my knowledge on how to communicate with professionals in any field I work in. This internship is showing me that whatever pathway I wish to pursue, I need to fully understand the ins and outs and be able to show my knowledge and understanding of any industry as a whole. I have been able to get hands-on experience with working with LinkedIn and WordPress which I will take with me for the rest of my career. With that being said, I want to increase my communication skills while also being able to create relationships with people in the field and on my team.
Q: What type of industry, program or graduate studies do you see yourself pursuing upon finishing school?
A: After I graduate in August of 2021, I am hoping to find a company I can work for that has the same values as I do. I have been fascinated with healthy living and ways to keep our bodies safe and strong, therefore, I believe while sticking to the marketing side of things – I want to immerse myself in the Health & Wellness industry.
Mary is an individual that has shown tremendous work ethic and growth in her short time with Sprekk. Our team recognizes the hard work our interns put in, which makes us excited about the future of this program..
We are excited to see the progress Mary makes as the Spring 2021 Internship Program advances!
