Intern Spotlight: Meet Het Patel
As the Spring 2021 Internship Program kicks into high gear, medical device sales intern Het Patel has been chosen as our first Intern of the Week.
Het Patel is a sophomore student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute studying biomedical engineering.
Het is an individual who, although has just started, has shown urgency and curiosity surrounding the neurophysiology and neuroanatomy of the spine. Throughout these first two weeks Het has gone above and beyond to learn the material thrown at him.
Our team got the opportunity to dive deeper into Het’s goals and objectives throughout his time at Sprekk and what he plans on pursuing following his completion of the program.
Q: In terms of long term career objectives, what are some goals you wish to achieve down the road?
A: In terms of long term career objectives, I just want to help people. It’s as simple as that. I want to make a difference in the lives of people. I know it sounds ambitious but having a bioinstrumentation background, my long term goal is to develop sensors that people can use to improve their quality of life. Ultimately, I want these sensors to help people lead healthier and happier lives.
Q: How do you believe Sprekk Supply Group can aid your journey to achieving these goals?
A: Interning with SSG is an unique opportunity where I can build my network and work with physicians to bring about a tangible change. One thing that distinguishes SSG from everyone else is their four-week long education program. Through these weeks, I have come across several topics of research that I hope to pursue after this internship to understand more about the medical device industry and specifically orthopedics. Lastly, SSG has connected me to people that have been great resources. I hope to work with these people to make a lasting change.
Q: What are the skills you wish to gain from this internship program and how do you plan to utilize these skills to achieve your long term career objectives?
A: I primarily hope to develop my communication skills through this internship as I firmly believe that communication is key. In addition to communicating, I hope to work on my collaborative skills simultaneously. While I love delegating tasks and taking charge, SSG provides me with a unique opportunity to showcase my talents as a team player. I look forward to developing these skills and many more during my time with Sprekk Supply Group.
Q: What type of industry, program or graduate studies do you see yourself pursuing upon finishing school?
A: After finishing school, I hope to pursue the medical device industry. Specifically, the development of sensors and medical devices. Having worked on some sensor development projects, I would love to continue pursuing that.
Het is currently working to develop a sensor in order to aid those who are visually impaired. This sensory software could be the gateway into a new way of helping those in need.
We are excited to see the progress Het makes as our Spring 2021 Internship Program advances!
