As the first month of our internship program comes to a close, Medical Device Sales Intern Jack Jordan has been chosen as Intern of the Week!
Jack is currently a senior studying Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Michigan and is set to graduate in Spring 2021.
As our program has proceeded, Jack has shown rigorous advances in knowledge and understanding of the science behind our devices, the nervous system, and pain management. Jack has shown a genuine eagerness in our discussions and continuously puts in the extra effort after meeting hours. His passion for healthcare and the medical device industry has been apparent since the first day of the program.
Our team got the opportunity to dive deeper into Jack’s goals and objectives throughout his time at Sprekk and what he plans to pursue following the completion of the program.
Q: In terms of long term career objectives, what are some goals you wish to achieve down the road?
A: My long-term career goals are to become a healthcare professional in the medical or dental field and specialize in a surgical field. I can’t think of anything more rewarding than helping others for a job and I believe my communication and problem-solving skills combined with my love of science make me the ideal candidate to become a healthcare professional. Working as a healthcare professional would be an incredible opportunity to obtain relevant skills and knowledge which I can use to positively impact the lives of others. It’s a long road but I am confident that with hard work, opportunities like this SSG internship, and a bit of luck I can make my goals a reality.
Q: How do you believe Sprekk Supply Group can aid your journey to achieving these goals?
A: I believe SSG’s educational resources and healthcare community connections will be very helpful when applying to graduate institutions and create opportunities for future collaboration in my career. Through medical device sales, SSG has given me a unique perspective on the business side of healthcare while still emphasizing the importance of patient centered care. I feel that this is a side of healthcare that few pre-health students get to experience, and down the road it will prove extremely valuable.
Q: What are the skills you wish to gain from this internship program and how do you plan to utilize these skills to achieve your long term career objectives?
A: Throughout this internship program, my focus is on communication and team skills in preparation for my future career. I believe the ability to lead, follow and communicate are great general life skills, but they are especially important in a healthcare setting. Being able to communicate in a range of terms from the most technical to most layman in an appropriate way is key to being a successful practitioner. Teamwork in leading and following capacities are also valuable in a healthcare setting and contribute massively to the experience of other professionals and patients alike.
Q: What type of industry, program or graduate studies do you see yourself pursuing upon finishing school?
A: I see myself matriculating into a Medical School or Dental School after I graduate in spring 2021. While I am open to all areas of the country for school, Michigan would be ideal for me and my family and would give me the opportunity to serve the communities that have served me so well growing up.
Our team is thrilled to have an individual like Jack due to his work ethic and desire to learn and advance in the healthcare and medical device industry. We are excited to see the progress he continues to make throughout the rest of the Spring 2021 internship program!
